The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +7.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 88%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, barley imports fell notably to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +26.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 76%. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Australia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of barley to Kuwait, with a 48% share of total imports. The average barley import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -16.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a slight decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 49% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then declined notably in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
