In value terms, chewing gum exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 254%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Iran (X tons), Lebanon (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) were the main destinations of chewing gum exports from Kuwait, together accounting for 76% of total exports. These countries were followed by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Oman, which together accounted for a further 22%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +22.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Iran ($X) remains the key foreign market for chewing gum exports from Kuwait, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Iraq ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with an 8.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Iran totaled +8.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Iraq (+22.1% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+17.8% per year).

In 2021, the average chewing gum export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 19% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lebanon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+18.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of chewing gum was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, chewing gum imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 74%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the main suppliers of chewing gum imports to Kuwait, with a combined 62% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +16.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Russia ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X) were the largest chewing gum suppliers to Kuwait, with a combined 84% share of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, the United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +37.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average chewing gum import price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -7.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 43% against the previous year.
