Exports from Kuwait

In 2022, the amount of clasp knives exported from Kuwait declined slightly to X units, which is down by -2.6% against 2021. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 372% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, clasp knife exports shrank slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 373%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

Qatar (X units) was the main destination for clasp knife exports from Kuwait, accounting for a 92% share of total exports. Moreover, clasp knife exports to Qatar exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Saudi Arabia (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (X units), with a 1.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Qatar amounted to +30.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Saudi Arabia (+23.4% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-15.2% per year).

The average clasp knife export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of clasp knives, when their volume decreased by -48.7% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 160%. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, clasp knife imports dropped significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 124% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell markedly in the following year.

The United States (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and China (X units) were the main suppliers of clasp knife imports to Kuwait, with a combined 68% share of total imports. Japan, Brazil, Taiwan (Chinese), Turkey and Switzerland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.
