In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Kuwaiti concentrated orange juice market, when its value decreased by -67.5% to $X. Overall, consumption saw a deep contraction. Concentrated orange juice consumption peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

For the sixth year in a row, Kuwait recorded decline in shipments abroad of concentrated orange juice, which decreased by -58.4% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports showed a sharp slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 116% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, concentrated orange juice exports fell markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a precipitous contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 186%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Saudi Arabia (X tons) was the main destination for concentrated orange juice exports from Kuwait, with a 96% share of total exports. It was followed by Congo (X tons), with a 1.7% share of total exports.

In 2021, the average concentrated orange juice export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 9.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 32%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Congo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (-4.9%).

In 2021, purchases abroad of concentrated orange juice decreased by -69.2% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports faced a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 94% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, concentrated orange juice imports contracted significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports faced a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 86%. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Bahrain (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) were the main suppliers of concentrated orange juice imports to Kuwait, together comprising 85% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Bahrain (with a CAGR of +190.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest concentrated orange juice suppliers to Kuwait were Brazil ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Bahrain ($X), together accounting for 79% of total imports.

From 2018 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
