The Kuwaiti curtains market dropped notably to $X in 2022, shrinking by -18.3% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In 2022, shipments abroad of curtains and interior blinds was finally on the rise to reach X square meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports recorded a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 227% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, curtains exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 333% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Saudi Arabia (X square meters), Qatar (X square meters) and Iran (X square meters) were the main destinations of curtains exports from Kuwait, together comprising 92% of total exports. Iraq, Spain, the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +36.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, export price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, curtains export price decreased by -5.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 33%. In 2022, approx. X square meters of curtains and interior blinds were imported into Kuwait; waning by -17.4% compared with the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 52%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X square meters, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, curtains imports declined rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. In 2022, China (X square meters) constituted the largest supplier of curtains to Kuwait, with a 36% share of total imports. Moreover, curtains imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X square meters), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkey (X square meters), with a 9.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+5.3% per year) and Turkey (+17.7% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of curtains and interior blinds to Kuwait, comprising 23% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+3.7% per year) and Turkey (+15.6% per year).

The average curtains import price stood at $X per square meter in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 14%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per square meter.
