Egypt (X tons) was the main destination for driving and non-driving axle exports from Kuwait, with a 93% share of total exports. Moreover, driving and non-driving axle exports to Egypt exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hong Kong SAR (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Egypt totaled +9.5%.
In value terms, Egypt ($X) remains the key foreign market for driving and non-driving axle exports from Kuwait, comprising 90% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with an 8.7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Egypt stood at +28.7%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average driving and non-driving axle export price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -9.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 198% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+17.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Drive-Axles with Differential and Non-Driving Axles

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of drive-axles with differential and non-driving axles, when their volume increased by 35% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 52%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, driving and non-driving axle imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Japan (X tons), China (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main suppliers of driving and non-driving axle imports to Kuwait, with a combined 73% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the United States, Turkey, Italy and Thailand, which together accounted for a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Italy (with a CAGR of +33.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of driving and non-driving axle to Kuwait, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with an 8.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Japan stood at -6.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+14.8% per year) and the United States (+27.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average driving and non-driving axle import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 22% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.9%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
