In value terms, fiberboard exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 1,677% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Saudi Arabia (X cubic meters) was the main destination for fiberboard exports from Kuwait, with a 54% share of total exports. Moreover, fiberboard exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters), threefold. Iraq (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Saudi Arabia totaled +61.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+47.3% per year) and Iraq (+3.0% per year).
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) remains the key foreign market for fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials exports from Kuwait, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 28% share of total exports. It was followed by Qatar, with a 7.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Saudi Arabia stood at +74.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+57.9% per year) and Qatar (+51.0% per year).

The average fiberboard export price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted a buoyant increase. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials were finally on the rise to reach X cubic meters after four years of decline. Overall, total imports indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -42.0% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 45%. Imports peaked at X cubic meters in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, fiberboard imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a mild setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 30%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Thailand (X cubic meters) constituted the largest supplier of fiberboard to Kuwait, with a 56% share of total imports. Moreover, fiberboard imports from Thailand exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, New Zealand (X cubic meters), twofold. Malaysia (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Thailand amounted to +8.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: New Zealand (+12.2% per year) and Malaysia (-15.2% per year).
In value terms, Thailand ($X) constituted the largest supplier of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials to Kuwait, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by New Zealand ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 5.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Thailand totaled +5.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: New Zealand (+8.4% per year) and China (-8.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average fiberboard import price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, which is down by -9.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 17% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per cubic meter), while the price for New Zealand ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
