From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fish fat and oil imports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 466% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The United States (X tons), India (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of fish fat and oil imports to Kuwait, with a combined 59% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +118.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of fish fats and oils to Kuwait, comprising 71% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with an 8.2% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 4.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the United States totaled +7.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+13.4% per year) and the Netherlands (+149.4% per year).

In 2022, the average fish fat and oil import price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -11.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 62%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bangladesh (+94.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
