After two years of growth, shipments abroad of knives, scissors and blades decreased by -28.7% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 153% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, knife and scissors exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 99% against the previous year. Qatar (X tons) was the main destination for knife and scissors exports from Kuwait, with a 54% share of total exports. In 2021, imports of knives, scissors and blades into Kuwait surged to X tons, with an increase of 17% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, knife and scissors imports surged to $X in 2021.
