In 2022, the Kuwaiti market for meat of camels and other animals decreased by -5.4% to $X, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, consumption, however, showed a buoyant expansion. Camel and other animal meat consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The average yield of meat of camels and other animals in Kuwait amounted to X kg per head in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year's figure. In general, the yield continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the yield increased by 14%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, camel and other animal meat exports rose notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 1,341%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, camel and other animal meat imports reduced notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a dramatic decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 119%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Pakistan (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Australia (X tons) were the main suppliers of camel and other animal meat imports to Kuwait, together comprising 92% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Pakistan (with a CAGR of +24.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the price for Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
