Newsprint Market Size in Kuwait
The Kuwaiti newsprint market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after two years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, showed a sharp slump. Newsprint consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Exports from Kuwait
Newsprint exports from Kuwait shrank sharply to X tons in 2022, which is down by -43.5% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 562% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, newsprint exports contracted sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 801%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons) was the main destination for newsprint exports from Kuwait, with a 45% share of total exports. Moreover, newsprint exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Jordan (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by India (X tons), with a 19% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United Arab Emirates stood at +50.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Jordan (+0.5% per year) and India (-4.2% per year).

The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +41.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average newsprint export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 8.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded modest growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 49%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+11.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Kuwait
In 2022, approx. X tons of newsprint were imported into Kuwait; which is down by -3.5% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports saw a precipitous decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 46%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, newsprint imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports faced a sharp contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 41%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Sweden (X tons), Canada (X tons) and Finland (X tons) were the main suppliers of newsprint imports to Kuwait, together comprising 59% of total imports. Norway, South Korea, Belgium, Russia and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +21.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, Sweden ($X), Canada ($X) and Finland ($X) were the largest newsprint suppliers to Kuwait, with a combined 63% share of total imports. Norway, Belgium, Russia, South Korea and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.
Belgium, with a CAGR of +1.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.

The average newsprint import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, newsprint import price decreased by +0.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 52%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while the price for South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
