The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 515% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Qatar (X tons) was the main destination for non-cellular polyethylene film exports from Kuwait, accounting for a 78% share of total exports. Moreover, non-cellular polyethylene film exports to Qatar exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Iraq (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Bahrain (X tons), with a 3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Qatar totaled +32.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Iraq (+36.6% per year) and Bahrain (+172.3% per year).
In value terms, Qatar ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for non-cellular polyethylene films, sheets, foil and strip exports from Kuwait, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Iraq ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Bahrain, with a 2.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Qatar totaled +20.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Iraq (+29.0% per year) and Bahrain (+155.0% per year).

The average non-cellular polyethylene film export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -10.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a noticeable descent. In 2021, supplies from abroad of non-cellular polyethylene films, sheets, foil and strip was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. In general, imports posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, non-cellular polyethylene film imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a strong increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Saudi Arabia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of non-cellular polyethylene film to Kuwait, accounting for a 68% share of total imports. Moreover, non-cellular polyethylene film imports from Saudi Arabia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), sixfold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Saudi Arabia totaled +57.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-8.9% per year) and China (+4.8% per year).
