Paper Bag Market Size in Kuwait

The Kuwaiti paper bag market totaled $X in 2021, with an increase of 6.4% against the previous year. Saudi Arabia (X tons) was the main destination for paper bag exports from Kuwait, accounting for a 43% share of total exports. Moreover, paper bag exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, India (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Qatar (X tons), with a 12% share.

The average paper bag export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, flattening at the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, paper bag export price decreased by -2.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average export price increased by 32%. In 2021, overseas purchases of sacks and bags of paper increased by 22% to X tons, rising for the fourth consecutive year after four years of decline. Overall, imports saw a modest expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 88%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, paper bag imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 59%. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Saudi Arabia (X tons) constituted the largest paper bag supplier to Kuwait, accounting for a 52% share of total imports. Moreover, paper bag imports from Saudi Arabia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), threefold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 14% share.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 30%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Bahrain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
