Qatar (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main destinations of vegetable product exports from Kuwait, with a combined 99% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Qatar (with a CAGR of +52.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, purchases abroad of vegetable products decreased by -60.4% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, imports recorded a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 186% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, vegetable product imports contracted rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 135% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Iran (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) were the main suppliers of vegetable product imports to Kuwait, with a combined 62% share of total imports. Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, the UK, India, Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the UK (with a CAGR of +40.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of vegetable products to Kuwait, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Lebanon ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Jordan, with a 7.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to -8.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Lebanon (+15.9% per year) and Jordan (+6.6% per year).

In 2022, the average vegetable product import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, vegetable product import price increased by +114.6% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 53% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the price for Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
