In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest agglomerated dolomite supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Costa Rica ($X), with a 3.6% share of total exports.

In Brazil, agglomerated dolomite exports contracted by an average annual rate of -2.3% over the period from 2012-2022.

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, dropping by -3.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 39% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($X per ton), while Brazil amounted to $X per ton.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, purchases abroad of agglomerated dolomite decreased by -54.4% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 107% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, agglomerated dolomite imports fell markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 113% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Costa Rica (X tons) represented the major importer of agglomerated dolomite, committing 52% of total imports. Paraguay (X tons) held a 31% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Bolivia (8.4%) and Argentina (4.6%).

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Bolivia (with a CAGR of +63.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Costa Rica ($X), Paraguay ($X) and Argentina ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 62% of total imports.

Argentina, with a CAGR of +33.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 33% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while Bolivia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
