In value terms, albumins and albuminates exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The shipments of the one major exporters of albumins, albuminates and other derivatives (excluding egg albumin), namely Argentina, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
Argentina was also the fastest-growing in terms of the albumins, albuminates and other derivatives (excluding egg albumin) exports, with a CAGR of +4.6% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Argentina ($X) also remains the largest albumins and albuminates supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Argentina.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
Albumins and albuminates imports surged to X tons in 2021, increasing by 25% against the previous year. Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +78.4% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +67.7% against 2018 indices. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Brazil (X tons) was the largest importer of albumins, albuminates and other derivatives (excluding egg albumin), achieving 65% of total imports. Mexico (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Colombia (X tons) and Chile (X tons). All these countries together held near 24% share of total imports. The following importers - Peru (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) - each amounted to a 5.6% share of total imports.
Imports into Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +10.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Argentina (+34.3%), Colombia (+23.1%), Chile (+14.6%) and Peru (+13.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Argentina emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +34.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Mexico (-4.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+11 p.p.), Colombia (+6.6 p.p.), Argentina (+2.3 p.p.) and Chile (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Mexico saw its share reduced by -21% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported albumins, albuminates and other derivatives (excluding egg albumin) in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mexico ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 9.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil totaled +6.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Mexico (-7.0% per year) and Colombia (+17.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 15% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable contraction. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (-2.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
