Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2020, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tons. Total exports indicated mild growth from 2007 to 2020: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019, and then fell markedly in the following year.

In value terms, alcohols exports declined significantly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Trinidad and Tobago was the largest exporter of alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2020. Venezuela (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Chile (X%). Brazil (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Trinidad and Tobago increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, Chile (+X%) and Brazil (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Chile emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020.
