The third position in this ranking was occupied by Suriname (X tons), with a X% share.

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2019, shipments abroad of alumina was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2019, exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, alumina exports fell modestly to $X in 2019. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2019, exports failed to regain the momentum.
Exports by Country
Brazil represented the main exporter of alumina in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2019. It was distantly followed by Jamaica (X tons), making up a X% share of total exports. Suriname (X tons) occupied a minor share of total exports.
Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the alumina exports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2019. Jamaica (-X%) and Suriname (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2019, the share of Brazil increased by +X% percentage points, while Jamaica (-X p.p.) and Suriname (-X p.p.) saw their share reduced.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2019, alumina imports in Latin America and the Caribbean contracted slightly to X tons, dropping by -X% compared with the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2019; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, alumina imports contracted notably to $X in 2019. Total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2007 to 2019: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve years.
