The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 1,137% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, aniline exports shrank rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports faced a precipitous curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 456%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Guatemala represented the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached 57% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X kg), Nicaragua (X kg), Colombia (X kg) and Brazil (X kg), together achieving a 42% share of total exports.

Exports from Guatemala increased at an average annual rate of +47.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Brazil (+126.2%), Nicaragua (+32.0%) and Colombia (+10.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +126.2% from 2012-2021. Argentina experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Guatemala, Argentina, Nicaragua, Colombia and Brazil increased by +57, +14, +11, +9 and +6.2 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Guatemala ($X) remains the largest aniline supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Nicaragua ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 13% share.

In Guatemala, aniline exports increased at an average annual rate of +36.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Nicaragua (+77.9% per year) and Colombia (+2.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 3,601% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aniline imports fell sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 118% against the previous year.
