In 2021, the Latin American aniline derivatives market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Aniline derivatives exports soared to X tons in 2021, picking up by 71% on 2020 figures. In general, exports recorded a significant increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, aniline derivatives exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Colombia prevails in exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 94% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), achieving a 5.9% share of total exports.

Exports from Colombia increased at an average annual rate of +20.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Brazil (+44.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +44.8% from 2012-2021. While the share of Brazil (+4.8 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Colombia ($X) and Brazil ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021.

Among the main exporting countries, Brazil, with a CAGR of +35.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -28.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a sharp slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the export price decreased by -6.1% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Colombia stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (-6.5%).

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of aniline derivatives and their salts, when their volume decreased by -25.8% to X tons. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 197%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aniline derivatives imports fell slightly to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 100% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Brazil (X tons) was the major importer of aniline derivatives and their salts, committing 68% of total imports. Colombia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 14% share, followed by Mexico (9.5%) and Guatemala (6.3%).

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aniline derivatives and their salts imports, with a CAGR of +4.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Colombia (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Mexico (-6.1%) and Guatemala (-11.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The second position in the ranking was taken by Colombia ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Mexico, with an 11% share.

In Brazil, aniline derivatives imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Colombia (+5.4% per year) and Mexico (-4.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 32% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Guatemala ($X per ton) and Mexico ($X per ton), while Brazil ($X per ton) and Colombia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
