The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, antimony and articles thereof exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 144% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Bolivia prevails in exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 96% of total exports in 2022. Peru (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to antimony and articles thereof exports from Bolivia stood at +3.4%. At the same time, Peru (+55.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +55.8% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Bolivia and Peru increased by +50 and +2.1 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Bolivia ($X) remains the largest antimony and articles thereof supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Peru ($X), with a 0.8% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Bolivia was relatively modest.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 16% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 29% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bolivia ($X per ton), while Peru amounted to $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bolivia (-2.7%).

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

Antimony and articles thereof imports declined modestly to X tons in 2022, stabilizing at the year before. In general, imports showed a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 74%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, antimony and articles thereof imports rose significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 93% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the five major importers of antimony and articles thereof, namely the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), committing a 6% share of total imports. Venezuela (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Colombia (with a CAGR of +42.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest antimony and articles thereof importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Mexico ($X), Colombia ($X) and Chile ($X), with a combined 63% share of total imports.

Colombia, with a CAGR of +39.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 7.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Venezuela ($X per ton), while the Dominican Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Venezuela (+2.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
