In value terms, artificial and colloidal graphite exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 82% against the previous year. After two years of decline, purchases abroad of artificial graphite, colloidal, semi-colloidal graphite and preparations increased by 39% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 59% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, artificial and colloidal graphite imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 149%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Brazil (X tons) and Mexico (X tons) represented the key importers of artificial graphite, colloidal, semi-colloidal graphite and preparations in 2021, amounting to near 36% and 33% of total imports, respectively. Colombia (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 10% share, followed by Argentina (8.9%). The following importers - Guatemala (X tons) and Venezuela (X tons) - together made up 7.7% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Guatemala (with a CAGR of +77.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported artificial graphite, colloidal, semi-colloidal graphite and preparations in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 70% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 4.2% share.
