The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 50%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

The following importers - Ecuador (X tons), Costa Rica (X tons), Bahamas (X tons), Mexico (X tons), the Dominican Republic (X tons), Aruba (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) - together made up 20% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Panama (with a CAGR of +49.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported asparagus in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with an 11% share.

In Brazil, asparagus imports increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (-0.4% per year) and Colombia (+9.2% per year).
