In 2022, after seven years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of baby carriages, when their volume decreased by -5% to X units. Total exports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +81.4% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, baby carriage exports rose to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 8% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Panama prevails in exports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 95% of total exports in 2022. Chile (X units) held a little share of total exports.
Panama was also the fastest-growing in terms of the baby carriages exports, with a CAGR of +5.4% from 2012 to 2022. Chile (-12.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Panama increased by +17 percentage points.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the export price increased by 11% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Panama amounted to $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+2.3%).
Baby Carriage Imports
Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, the amount of baby carriages imported in Latin America and the Caribbean declined modestly to X units, approximately mirroring the year before. In general, imports showed a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, baby carriage imports totaled $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Brazil (X units), the Dominican Republic (X units), Chile (X units), Peru (X units), Argentina (X units) and Mexico (X units) represented the main importer of baby carriages in Latin America and the Caribbean, committing 77% of total import. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X units), making up a 5.3% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by the Dominican Republic (with a CAGR of +36.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, the largest baby carriage importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Mexico ($X), Chile ($X) and Brazil ($X), together comprising 59% of total imports. Argentina, Peru, Colombia and the Dominican Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.
The Dominican Republic, with a CAGR of +11.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, surging by 9.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 13%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while the Dominican Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+6.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
