Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, metal tubular rivet exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 62% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Mexico was the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which accounted for 79% of total exports. Brazil (X tons) took a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Argentina (6%). Colombia (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to metal tubular rivet exports from Mexico stood at +1.4%. At the same time, Colombia (+5.7%) and Brazil (+4.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +5.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Argentina (-12.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Mexico (+11 p.p.) and Brazil (+3.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Argentina saw its share reduced by -13% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest metal tubular rivet supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 4.3% share.
In Mexico, metal tubular rivet exports increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (-3.2% per year) and Argentina (-20.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -35% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while Argentina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (-0.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, supplies from abroad of base metal tubular or bifurcated rivets increased by 36% to X tons, rising for the fifth year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed modest growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, metal tubular rivet imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Mexico (X tons) was the largest importer of base metal tubular or bifurcated rivets, comprising 69% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), making up a 17% share of total imports. The following importers - Argentina (X tons) and Chile (X tons) - each finished at a 4.1% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to metal tubular rivet imports into Mexico stood at +1.9%. At the same time, Chile (+9.3%) and Brazil (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. In Mexico, metal tubular rivet imports increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Brazil (+3.9% per year) and Argentina (-2.7% per year).
