Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
After four years of growth, shipments abroad of blueberries and cranberries decreased by -8.7% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 40% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, blueberry and cranberry exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 37% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Exports by Country
Peru represented the major exporter of blueberries and cranberries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 54% of total exports in 2022. Chile (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Mexico (X tons). All these countries together took near 45% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Peru (with a CAGR of +64.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Peru ($X) remains the largest blueberry and cranberry supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 25% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Peru amounted to +54.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (+1.2% per year) and Mexico (+30.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, declining by -3.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the export price increased by 16%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
Blueberry and cranberry imports skyrocketed to X tons in 2022, jumping by 81% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 148% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, blueberry and cranberry imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed strong growth. In value terms, Brazil ($X), Argentina ($X) and Mexico ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 59% share of total imports. Panama, Guatemala, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Aruba, Uruguay, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.
Panama, with a CAGR of +219.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, falling by -9.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the import price increased by 20%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Aruba ($X per ton), while Trinidad and Tobago ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
