The second position in the ranking was held by El Salvador ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with a 3.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Mexico amounted to +5.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: El Salvador (-2.4% per year) and Chile (+56.0% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, approx. X tons of boards, blocks and similar articles of vegetable fibre, agglomerated with mineral binders were imported in Latin America and the Caribbean; increasing by 21% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 59% against the previous year. In value terms, the Dominican Republic ($X), Chile ($X) and Ecuador ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 40% of total imports.
Ecuador, with a CAGR of +34.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 23% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Jamaica ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
