In value terms, breathing appliances exports declined sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 67%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Mexico prevails in exports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 91% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - Panama (X units) and Chile (X units) - together made up 4.8% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to breathing appliances exports from Mexico stood at -9.6%. At the same time, Panama (+17.9%) and Chile (+17.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Panama emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +17.9% from 2012-2022. While the share of Panama (+2.3 p.p.) and Chile (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Mexico (-8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest breathing appliances supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 3.9% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Mexico stood at -4.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chile (+17.0% per year) and Panama (+12.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, surging by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 224% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Mexico ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+6.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, purchases abroad of breathing appliances and gas masks decreased by -20.9% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 257% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, breathing appliances imports declined slightly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 96%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of breathing appliances imports in 2022 were Chile (X units), Peru (X units), Mexico (X units), Colombia (X units) and Brazil (X units), together recording 70% of total import. The following importers - Ecuador (X units), Bolivia (X units), Guatemala (X units), Jamaica (X units), Argentina (X units) and Trinidad and Tobago (X units) - together made up 16% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Jamaica (with a CAGR of +30.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest breathing appliances importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Mexico ($X), Chile ($X) and Brazil ($X), with a combined 56% share of total imports. Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Guatemala, Trinidad and Tobago, Bolivia and Jamaica lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Jamaica, with a CAGR of +15.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 56%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Bolivia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
