The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
Production of Brooms, Brushes, And Mops in Latin America and the Caribbean
In value terms, broom, brush, and mop production rose markedly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production recorded a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 73%. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, shipments abroad of brooms, brushes, and mops increased by 20% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after five years of decline. Overall, exports, however, saw a mild setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 58%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, broom, brush, and mop exports stood at $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 19%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Mexico was the key exporting country with an export of about X units, which finished at 66% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the Dominican Republic (X units) and Brazil (X units), together creating a 22% share of total exports. Guatemala (X units), Colombia (X units) and Panama (X units) held a minor share of total exports.
Exports from Mexico decreased at an average annual rate of -2.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the Dominican Republic (+40.0%) and Brazil (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Dominican Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +40.0% from 2012-2022. Colombia and Panama experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Guatemala (-2.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Dominican Republic (+11 p.p.) and Brazil (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Mexico (-13.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest broom, brush, and mop supplying countries in Latin America and the Caribbean were Mexico ($X), the Dominican Republic ($X) and Brazil ($X), with a combined 85% share of total exports.
The Dominican Republic, with a CAGR of +40.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -5.3% against the previous year. Export price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, broom, brush, and mop export price decreased by -28.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($X per unit), while Mexico ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guatemala (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, supplies from abroad of brooms, brushes, and mops increased by 2.6% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, broom, brush, and mop imports fell to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 24%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.
Imports by Country
Mexico (X units) and Brazil (X units) represented the largest importers of brooms, brushes, and mops in 2022, finishing at near 34% and 28% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X units), Argentina (X units), Chile (X units) and Peru (X units), together making up a 26% share of total imports. Ecuador (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Brazil (with a CAGR of +7.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest broom, brush, and mop importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Chile ($X), with a combined 57% share of total imports.
Chile, with a CAGR of +8.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -4.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 10%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Brazil ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
