From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Dominican Republic (with a CAGR of +201.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
In value terms, the Dominican Republic ($X) emerged as the largest carbon electrode supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 4.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 3.2% share.
In the Dominican Republic, carbon electrode exports increased at an average annual rate of +335.4% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (-30.6% per year) and Brazil (-17.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 653% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a significant increase. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($X per ton), while Ecuador ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 171%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, carbon electrode imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed slight growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 237% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Brazil was the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which finished at 41% of total imports. Mexico (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 24% share, followed by Argentina (12%) and Venezuela (4.9%). Colombia (X tons), Peru (X tons), Ecuador (X tons) and the Dominican Republic (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 24% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Ecuador ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
