Mexico (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) prevails in exports structure, together mixing up 74% of total exports. Panama (X tons) held a 6.6% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Costa Rica (6.4%) and Trinidad and Tobago (6.3%). The following exporters - Chile (X tons) and Venezuela (X tons) - each amounted to a 4.6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Costa Rica (with a CAGR of +39.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) emerged as the largest porcelain technical ware supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Panama ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 5.4% share.

In Mexico, porcelain technical ware exports plunged by an average annual rate of -5.3% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Panama (+10.0% per year) and Brazil (+4.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 55% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 84%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of porcelain ceramic wares for laboratory, technical, and chemical use increased by 27% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports enjoyed measured growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 41%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, porcelain technical ware imports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 26%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Mexico represented the main importer of porcelain ceramic wares for laboratory, technical, and chemical use in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. 60% of total imports in 2022. Chile (X tons) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Brazil (10%), Venezuela (7.7%) and El Salvador (5.7%).

At the same time, El Salvador (+50.3%), Venezuela (+27.7%) and Chile (+21.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, El Salvador emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +50.3% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Brazil (-4.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Chile (+8.6 p.p.), Venezuela (+6.8 p.p.) and El Salvador (+5.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Brazil saw its share reduced by -10.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Venezuela ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by El Salvador, with an 11% share.
