In 2022, after two years of growth, there was decline in overseas shipments of chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor, when their volume decreased by -2.8% to X units. Overall, exports recorded a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 50%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-electric chainsaw exports amounted to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +81.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor exports, with a CAGR of +7.2% from 2012 to 2022. After two years of growth, purchases abroad of chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor decreased by -7% to X units in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 61%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, non-electric chainsaw imports shrank slightly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +68.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the three major importers of chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor, namely Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, represented more than half of total import. Chile (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Peru (X units) and Colombia (X units). All these countries together held approx. 21% share of total imports. Uruguay (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Peru (with a CAGR of +12.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-electric chainsaw importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Argentina ($X), together accounting for 52% of total imports. Chile, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

Among the main importing countries, Peru, with a CAGR of +6.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 4.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per unit), while Uruguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+1.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
