In 2022, Brazil (X units) was the major exporter of civil spacecraft, satellites and launch vehicles, constituting 71% of total exports. Argentina (X units) held a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the Dominican Republic (12%) and Jamaica (5.9%).

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the civil spacecraft, satellites and launch vehicles exports, with a CAGR of +13.0% from 2012 to 2022. Argentina, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In Brazil, spacecraft exports expanded at an average annual rate of +16.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (-27.6% per year) and the Dominican Republic (0.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, surging by 12,035% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a significant expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Jamaica ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+3.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of civil spacecraft, satellites and launch vehicles decreased by -54.7% to X units in 2022. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 226% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, spacecraft imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed slight growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 159% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X.
