In 2022, purchases abroad of cod, salted or in brine was finally on the rise to reach X tons after four years of decline. Overall, imports saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 175% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cod, salted or in brine imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 159%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
