Common Pottery Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean

Common Pottery Production in Latin America and the Caribbean
In value terms, common pottery production fell to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 19%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.
Common Pottery Exports
Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, shipments abroad of common pottery decreased by -3.2% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed tangible growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 96% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, common pottery exports contracted to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 40%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
Exports by Country
Mexico was the major exporting country with an export of around X tons, which resulted at 51% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), Colombia (X tons) and Chile (X tons), together committing a 46% share of total exports. Guatemala (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Mexico increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Brazil (+10.4%), Guatemala (+9.6%), Chile (+7.3%) and Colombia (+3.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +10.4% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Brazil, Mexico and Chile increased by +10, +4.1 and +1.8 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest common pottery supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Mexico amounted to +4.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (+6.8% per year) and Colombia (+2.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -5.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (-0.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Common Pottery Imports
Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, approx. X tons of common pottery were imported in Latin America and the Caribbean; dropping by -7.9% against 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, common pottery imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +73.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Mexico (X tons), distantly followed by Peru (X tons), Brazil (X tons), Chile (X tons), Bolivia (X tons) and Guatemala (X tons) represented the key importers of common pottery, together creating 80% of total imports. Argentina (X tons), Paraguay (X tons), the Dominican Republic (X tons) and Costa Rica (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by the Dominican Republic (with a CAGR of +17.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported common pottery in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 36% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 13% share.
In Mexico, common pottery imports expanded at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (+2.6% per year) and Brazil (-0.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 24% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Bolivia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
