The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, the amount of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof exported in Latin America and the Caribbean skyrocketed to X tons, picking up by 721% compared with the year before. In general, exports showed resilient growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, computing machinery exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +53.1% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 23%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the one major exporters of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof, namely Mexico, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
Mexico was also the fastest-growing in terms of the computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof exports, with a CAGR of +18.9% from 2012 to 2021. While the share of Mexico (+15 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) also remains the largest computing machinery supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Mexico amounted to +6.1%.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -87.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 149% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Mexico.
From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Mexico amounted to -10.8% per year.
Computing Machinery Imports
Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
For the third consecutive year, LatAmerica and the Caribbean recorded decline in overseas purchases of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof, which decreased by -10.4% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 1.6%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, computing machinery imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Mexico (X tons), distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), Peru (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and Chile (X tons) were the key importers of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof, together making up 82% of total imports. Guatemala (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Guatemala (with a CAGR of +1.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 9.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Chile, with a 6.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Mexico totaled +3.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Brazil (-4.5% per year) and Chile (+4.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a strong expansion. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Guatemala ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+17.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
