Concentrated Apple Juice Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, the Latin American concentrated apple juice market decreased by -12.9% to $X, falling for the second year in a row after four years of growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Concentrated Apple Juice Exports
Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, the amount of concentrated apple juice exported in Latin America and the Caribbean soared to X tons, with an increase of 42% against the year before. In general, exports, however, recorded a noticeable contraction. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, concentrated apple juice exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt contraction. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Chile was the main exporter of concentrated apple juice in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was near 68% of total exports in 2021. Brazil (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 20% share, followed by Argentina (9%).
Chile was also the fastest-growing in terms of the concentrated apple juice exports, with a CAGR of +2.9% from 2012 to 2021. Brazil (-5.6%) and Argentina (-13.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Chile (+26 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Brazil (-7.1 p.p.) and Argentina (-16.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Chile ($X) remains the largest concentrated apple juice supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 17% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Chile amounted to -1.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (-7.9% per year) and Argentina (-14.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 9.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (-2.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Concentrated Apple Juice Imports
Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, approx. X tons of concentrated apple juice were imported in Latin America and the Caribbean; increasing by 15% compared with the previous year. In general, imports, however, recorded a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, concentrated apple juice imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Panama (X tons), distantly followed by the Dominican Republic (X tons), Honduras (X tons) and Mexico (X tons) were the major importers of concentrated apple juice, together mixing up 61% of total imports. The following importers - Trinidad and Tobago (X tons), Costa Rica (X tons), Nicaragua (X tons), Guatemala (X tons), Cuba (X tons), Chile (X tons), Anguilla (X tons), Uruguay (X tons) and Jamaica (X tons) - together made up 26% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Anguilla (with a CAGR of +72.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest concentrated apple juice importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Panama ($X), Mexico ($X) and the Dominican Republic ($X), with a combined 50% share of total imports. Honduras, Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Cuba, Chile, Anguilla, Uruguay, Jamaica and Nicaragua lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.
Anguilla, with a CAGR of +76.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, approximately equating the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 7.6%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Nicaragua ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cuba (+10.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
