Exports by Country

Brazil was the major exporter of concrete-mixer lorries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was near 53% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Chile (X units), committing a 17% share of total exports. Guatemala (X units), Panama (X units), Bahamas (X units), Colombia (X units), Saint Lucia (X units), Jamaica (X units), Argentina (X units) and Trinidad and Tobago (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Bahamas (+14.9%), Saint Lucia (+14.9%), Panama (+5.2%), Argentina (+4.1%) and Trinidad and Tobago (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bahamas emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +14.9% from 2012-2022. Chile and Jamaica experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Colombia (-5.4%) and Guatemala (-9.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Brazil, Chile, Jamaica, Panama, Bahamas and Saint Lucia increased by +35, +10, +2.6, +2.5, +2.3 and +2.3 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) emerged as the largest concrete-mixer lorry supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Guatemala, with a 3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil stood at +2.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (-2.8% per year) and Guatemala (-8.2% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, surging by 11% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 30%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Bahamas ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahamas (+43.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of concrete-mixer lorries imported in Latin America and the Caribbean contracted to X units, which is down by -10.6% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, concrete-mixer lorry imports declined slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 44%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Peru (X units) and Chile (X units) were the largest importers of concrete-mixer lorries in Latin America and the Caribbean, together achieving 35% of total imports. Guyana (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Colombia (X units) and the Dominican Republic (X units). All these countries together held near 21% share of total imports. The following importers - Bolivia (X units), Jamaica (X units), Cuba (X units), Uruguay (X units), Paraguay (X units), Argentina (X units), Guatemala (X units) and El Salvador (X units) - together made up 24% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Jamaica (with a CAGR of +24.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest concrete-mixer lorry importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Peru ($X), Chile ($X) and the Dominican Republic ($X), together accounting for 50% of total imports. Colombia, Cuba, Guyana, Bolivia, Uruguay, Jamaica, Argentina, Paraguay, El Salvador and Guatemala lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.

Jamaica, with a CAGR of +27.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 7.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($X per unit), while Guyana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
