Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, approx. X units of concrete or mortar mixers were exported in Latin America and the Caribbean; increasing by 11% against the previous year's figure. In general, exports saw a pronounced expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concrete mixer exports soared to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Mexico (X units) was the major exporter of concrete or mortar mixers, committing 56% of total exports. Brazil (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Argentina (X units) and Panama (X units). All these countries together took approx. 38% share of total exports.

Mexico was also the fastest-growing in terms of the concrete or mortar mixers exports, with a CAGR of +19.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Brazil (+10.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Panama experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Argentina (-13.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Mexico (+40 p.p.) and Brazil (+10 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Panama and Argentina saw its share reduced by -2.5% and -34.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest concrete mixer supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 2.1% share.

In Mexico, concrete mixer exports increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (+4.5% per year) and Argentina (-21.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 24% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 28%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while Panama ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Concrete mixer imports soared to X units in 2021, growing by 73% on the previous year. Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Uruguay (X units), El Salvador (X units), Honduras (X units), Bolivia (X units) and Nicaragua (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +25.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest concrete mixer importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Chile ($X), Peru ($X) and Venezuela ($X), with a combined 45% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Colombia, Guatemala, Paraguay, Uruguay, El Salvador, Honduras, Bolivia and Nicaragua, which together accounted for a further 29%.

Among the main importing countries, El Salvador, with a CAGR of +16.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -9.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 17%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Bolivia ($X per unit), while Paraguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
