Copper Powder Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean
The Latin American copper powder market declined modestly to $X in 2021, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, saw a slight curtailment. Copper powder exports surged to X tons in 2021, jumping by 42% on 2020. In general, exports, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 43%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, copper powder exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 72% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Brazil was the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which amounted to 47% of total exports. Chile (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Mexico (X tons) and Venezuela (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 48% share of total exports. Peru (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Chile (with a CAGR of +89.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest copper powder supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 55% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mexico ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil totaled -5.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (-12.2% per year) and Chile (+83.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 7.7% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 38%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Venezuela ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+13.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Copper Powder Imports
Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, overseas purchases of copper powders and flakes decreased by -9.7% to X tons, falling for the sixth consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports showed a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 7.9%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, copper powder imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Mexico (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) represented the main importers of copper powders and flakes in 2021, resulting at near 37% and 32% of total imports, respectively. Colombia (X tons) took a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Argentina (9.8%). Grenada (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Grenada (with a CAGR of +54.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Colombia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 86% of total imports. These countries were followed by Argentina and Grenada, which together accounted for a further 7.9%.
Grenada, with a CAGR of +37.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 33% against the previous year. Import price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, copper powder import price increased by +125.5% against 2015 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
