Mexico represented the main exporter of copper tubes and pipes in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was approx. 69% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), generating a 28% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to copper tube and pipe exports from Mexico stood at -3.9%. At the same time, Brazil (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +3.7% from 2012-2021. The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Brazil amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+1.2%).
Imports of Copper Tubes And Pipes
Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, supplies from abroad of copper tubes and pipes increased by 17% to X tons, rising for the fifth year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a mild decrease. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, copper tube and pipe imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Mexico represented the main importer of copper tubes and pipes in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near 36% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), Argentina (X tons), Chile (X tons) and Colombia (X tons), together mixing up a 50% share of total imports. Ecuador (X tons) and Peru (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +13.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
In value terms, Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Argentina ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 70% of total imports. Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Chile, with a CAGR of +14.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Argentina ($X per ton) and Mexico ($X per ton), while Colombia ($X per ton) and Chile ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+3.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
