The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, consumption attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes production fell modestly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 22%. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, shipments abroad of cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes (excluding cyclohexane) was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Total exports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 77% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 94% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Brazil prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 91% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Chile (X tons), mixing up a 6.3% share of total exports. Mexico (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes exports from Brazil stood at +2.1%. At the same time, Mexico (+14.7%) and Chile (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mexico emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +14.7% from 2012-2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 12% share of total exports.

In Brazil, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes exports plunged by an average annual rate of -1.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (+0.8% per year) and Mexico (+10.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 18% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (-0.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes imports in Latin America and the Caribbean surged to X tons, rising by 64% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed a modest increase. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Mexico represented the main importer of cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes (excluding cyclohexane) in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was near 63% of total imports in 2021. Brazil (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Colombia (X tons). All these countries together held near 32% share of total imports. Chile (X tons) held a little share of total imports.

Mexico experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes (excluding cyclohexane). At the same time, Colombia (+15.3%), Chile (+7.4%) and Brazil (+4.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +15.3% from 2012-2021. While the share of Brazil (+7.4 p.p.) and Colombia (+3.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Mexico (-11.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Colombia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 92% share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Colombia, with a CAGR of +10.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -25.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 89% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while Mexico ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+2.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
