In value terms, calendering cylinder exports fell to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 291% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Brazil represented the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which accounted for 50% of total exports. Uruguay (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Argentina (X units) and Mexico (X units). All these countries together held near 32% share of total exports. The following exporters - Colombia (X units), Ecuador (X units), Panama (X units) and Paraguay (X units) - together made up 11% of total exports.

Exports from Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +34.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uruguay (+47.0%), Ecuador (+45.1%), Argentina (+18.9%) and Colombia (+14.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uruguay emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +47.0% from 2012-2021. Paraguay experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Panama (-19.8%) and Mexico (-25.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+47 p.p.), Uruguay (+20 p.p.), Argentina (+5.1 p.p.), Ecuador (+3.4 p.p.), Colombia (+2.7 p.p.) and Paraguay (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Panama and Mexico saw its share reduced by -14.2% and -57.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest calendering cylinder supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uruguay ($X), with a 9.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil amounted to +43.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uruguay (+71.7% per year) and Mexico (-22.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 87% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Paraguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+16.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 30%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, calendering cylinder imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine-year period. Guatemala (X units), Bahamas (X units) and Chile (X units) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to calendering cylinder imports into Brazil stood at +3.0%. At the same time, Peru (+36.0%), Bahamas (+31.3%), Guatemala (+18.1%), Argentina (+13.8%) and Chile (+13.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +36.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Mexico (-5.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Peru (+16 p.p.), Argentina (+5.9 p.p.), Brazil (+3.5 p.p.), Guatemala (+3.3 p.p.), Bahamas (+2.9 p.p.) and Chile (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Mexico saw its share reduced by -17.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, the largest calendering cylinder importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Brazil ($X), Peru ($X) and Mexico ($X), together comprising 66% of total imports. Chile, Argentina, Bahamas and Guatemala lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.

Bahamas, with a CAGR of +39.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -10.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 17%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Guatemala ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
