Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, exports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances surged to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Mexico represented the main exporter of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was near 58% of total exports in 2021. Ecuador (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 24% share, followed by Brazil (10%). The following exporters - Colombia (X tons), Costa Rica (X tons) and Peru (X tons) - each accounted for a 6.1% share of total exports.

Exports from Mexico increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Peru (+16.5%) and Ecuador (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +16.5% from 2012-2021. Colombia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Brazil (-2.9%) and Costa Rica (-12.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Mexico (+7.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Brazil (-3.7 p.p.) and Costa Rica (-4.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliance supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ecuador ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 4.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Mexico amounted to +6.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Ecuador (+1.4% per year) and Brazil (-4.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Costa Rica ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+6.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances increased by 48% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Peru (X tons), Chile (X tons), Guatemala (X tons), Mexico (X tons), the Dominican Republic (X tons), Panama (X tons) and El Salvador (X tons) represented roughly 66% of total imports in 2021. The following importers - Costa Rica (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Jamaica (X tons), Nicaragua (X tons), Uruguay (X tons) and Paraguay (X tons) - together made up 16% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Panama (with a CAGR of +14.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Chile ($X), Peru ($X) and Mexico ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 41% of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Chile, with a CAGR of +16.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Jamaica ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
