In value terms, dried grapes exports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 41%. Chile was the key exporter of dried grapes in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 67% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), mixing up a 31% share of total exports.

In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, surging by 6.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 12% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Argentina stood at $X per ton.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, after three years of decline, there was growth in supplies from abroad of dried grapes, when their volume increased by 4.1% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, dried grapes imports rose notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 23%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Brazil represented the major importer of dried grapes in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was near 45% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X tons), Peru (X tons) and Mexico (X tons), together constituting a 31% share of total imports. Ecuador (X tons), the Dominican Republic (X tons), Venezuela (X tons), Trinidad and Tobago (X tons), Guatemala (X tons), Costa Rica (X tons), Panama (X tons) and Jamaica (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to dried grapes imports into Brazil stood at +2.0%. At the same time, Panama (+98.4%), Costa Rica (+4.0%), Guatemala (+3.2%), Jamaica (+2.8%), Ecuador (+2.8%), Colombia (+1.8%) and Peru (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Panama emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +98.4% from 2012-2022. Trinidad and Tobago experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Dominican Republic (-1.9%), Venezuela (-10.0%) and Mexico (-10.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+11 p.p.), Colombia (+2.6 p.p.), Peru (+1.7 p.p.) and Panama (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Venezuela (-3.4 p.p.) and Mexico (-15.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported dried grapes in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Peru ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Peru (-0.6% per year) and Colombia (-1.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 8.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 11%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($X per ton), while Ecuador ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
