Chile (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Mexico (X units) and Ecuador (X units). All these countries together held near 36% share of total exports. The following exporters - Colombia (X units) and Argentina (X units) - each recorded a 4.1% share of total exports.

Exports from Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Ecuador (+37.1%), Chile (+25.6%), Colombia (+19.6%), Mexico (+6.8%) and Argentina (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ecuador emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +37.1% from 2012-2021. Chile (+13 p.p.) and Ecuador (+6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Argentina, Mexico and Brazil saw its share reduced by -1.5%, -2.7% and -13.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest wood dryer supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 2.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 1.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil amounted to +5.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (-7.0% per year) and Mexico (+10.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, falling by -14.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the export price increased by 28%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Colombia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard increased by 202% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports saw buoyant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, wood dryer imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Paraguay was the key importing country with an import of about X units, which resulted at 39% of total imports. Brazil (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Uruguay (X units) and Costa Rica (X units). All these countries together held near 45% share of total imports. The following importers - Mexico (X units), Chile (X units) and Peru (X units) - together made up 8.1% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Costa Rica (with a CAGR of +46.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Uruguay ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Chile, with an 11% share.

In Brazil, wood dryer imports expanded at an average annual rate of +22.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uruguay (+12.7% per year) and Chile (+2.7% per year).
