In value terms, electric oven and cooker production contracted modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the production volume increased by 12%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, overseas shipments of electric ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters decreased by -11.4% to X units, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 69%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, electric oven and cooker exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Mexico prevails in exports structure, recording X units, which was near 89% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X units), committing a 7.8% share of total exports.

Exports from Mexico increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Brazil (+11.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +11.9% from 2012-2022. While the share of Mexico (+11 p.p.) and Brazil (+3.6 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest electric oven and cooker supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 97% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 2.4% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Mexico stood at +10.0%.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate perceptible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 74%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while Brazil totaled $X per unit.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, approx. X units of electric ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters were imported in Latin America and the Caribbean; declining by -28.9% on the year before. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then declined dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, electric oven and cooker imports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +29.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 68%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

Brazil was the main importing country with an import of about X units, which reached 41% of total imports. Chile (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Argentina (X units) and Peru (X units). All these countries together held approx. 33% share of total imports. Bolivia (X units), Mexico (X units), Ecuador (X units), Cuba (X units), Venezuela (X units), Costa Rica (X units) and Honduras (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to electric oven and cooker imports into Brazil stood at -3.2%. At the same time, Ecuador (+22.4%), Bolivia (+19.4%), Chile (+17.6%), Peru (+7.5%), Costa Rica (+5.9%), Cuba (+2.5%) and Argentina (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ecuador emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +22.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Honduras (-2.3%), Venezuela (-2.6%) and Mexico (-9.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Chile (+15 p.p.), Bolivia (+3.5 p.p.), Peru (+2.8 p.p.) and Ecuador (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Mexico (-7.4 p.p.) and Brazil (-19.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X), Mexico ($X) and Chile ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 51% share of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Mexico, with a CAGR of +12.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 8.6% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while Bolivia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
