In 2022, shipments abroad of electric sound amplifier sets increased by 57% to X units, rising for the fourth year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, electric sound amplifier exports totaled $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Mexico prevails in exports structure, finishing at X units, which was near 78% of total exports in 2022. Chile (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 6.1% share, followed by Costa Rica (5.4%). The following exporters - Panama (X units) and Brazil (X units) - each accounted for a 7.8% share of total exports.
Exports from Mexico decreased at an average annual rate of -4.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Costa Rica (+51.4%), Panama (+14.4%) and Chile (+13.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Costa Rica emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +51.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Brazil (-9.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Costa Rica (+5.4 p.p.), Chile (+4.9 p.p.) and Panama (+3.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Brazil and Mexico saw its share reduced by -2.8% and -10.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest electric sound amplifier supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Costa Rica, with a 9.5% share.
In Mexico, electric sound amplifier exports shrank by an average annual rate of -3.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chile (+10.2% per year) and Costa Rica (+59.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2022, which is down by -28.7% against the previous year. Export price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the export price increased by 52%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2021, and then fell sharply in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Brazil ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Costa Rica (+5.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, imports of electric sound amplifier sets in Latin America and the Caribbean dropped to X units, which is down by -7.6% against 2021 figures. In general, imports saw a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 127% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, electric sound amplifier imports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 54%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Chile was the key importing country with an import of about X units, which resulted at 41% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X units), Mexico (X units), Bolivia (X units) and Argentina (X units), together creating a 33% share of total imports. The following importers - Peru (X units), Guatemala (X units), Ecuador (X units), the Dominican Republic (X units), Colombia (X units), Cuba (X units) and Uruguay (X units) - together made up 19% of total imports.
Imports into Chile increased at an average annual rate of +21.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cuba (+23.6%), Ecuador (+15.2%), the Dominican Republic (+7.7%), Guatemala (+3.0%) and Argentina (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cuba emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +23.6% from 2012-2022. Uruguay experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Bolivia (-3.1%), Brazil (-5.9%), Peru (-8.4%), Mexico (-9.7%) and Colombia (-17.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Chile (+36 p.p.), Ecuador (+2.7 p.p.), the Dominican Republic (+1.7 p.p.) and Argentina (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico saw its share reduced by -3.6%, -5.5%, -10.7% and -13.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Ecuador ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 67% of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Ecuador, with a CAGR of +15.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -5.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the import price increased by 68%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($X per unit), while Bolivia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+6.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
