The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, fiberboard exports soared to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +95.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Brazil was the key exporter of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports resulting at X cubic meters, which was approx. 57% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Chile (X cubic meters), committing a 36% share of total exports. Mexico (X cubic meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per cubic meter, rising by 32% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per cubic meter), while Brazil ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+6.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, approx. X cubic meters of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials were imported in Latin America and the Caribbean; declining by -9.6% on the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 52%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X cubic meters, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, fiberboard imports reduced to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +64.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 80%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
Mexico was the key importing country with an import of around X cubic meters, which amounted to 43% of total imports. Colombia (X cubic meters) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 9.9% share, followed by Peru (9.1%), Chile (8.4%) and the Dominican Republic (6.2%). Ecuador (X cubic meters), Guatemala (X cubic meters), Uruguay (X cubic meters), Argentina (X cubic meters), Paraguay (X cubic meters), Costa Rica (X cubic meters) and Panama (X cubic meters) took a minor share of total imports.
Imports into Mexico increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Panama (+38.0%), the Dominican Republic (+29.8%), Paraguay (+10.6%), Chile (+6.0%), Guatemala (+4.6%), Costa Rica (+4.2%), Peru (+3.4%) and Uruguay (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Panama emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +38.0% from 2012-2022. Colombia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Ecuador (-1.9%) and Argentina (-2.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Dominican Republic (+5.7 p.p.), Mexico (+2.8 p.p.), Chile (+2.8 p.p.) and Panama (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Ecuador and Colombia saw its share reduced by -1.6% and -2.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Peru, with a 7.8% share.
In Mexico, fiberboard imports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (+7.5% per year) and Peru (+2.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, stabilizing at the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a mild expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 18% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
