Moreover, Panama emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +58.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Costa Rica (-16.2%) and the Dominican Republic (-25.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Colombia (+24 p.p.), Honduras (+14 p.p.), Mexico (+12 p.p.), Ecuador (+4.6 p.p.) and Panama (+4.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic saw its share reduced by -15.2% and -34.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Colombia ($X) remains the largest goat hides and skins supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with an 8.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Honduras, with a 7.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Colombia totaled -2.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Mexico (+7.8% per year) and Honduras (+26.8% per year).
